Product terminology simply explained

User Story

A user story is a concise description of a feature or functionality from the perspective of the user. It helps product teams understand what the user wants to accomplish and why. Think of it as a short, simple narrative that captures the who, what, and why of a user's interaction with the product.

For example, a user story for a project management tool could be: "As a project manager, I want to be able to assign tasks to team members so that I can track their progress and ensure timely completion." This user story helps the product team prioritize and build features that meet the needs of the user.
